Listing, Wishing is composed of a modest platform, 2 lip balms, a pairs of shoes, an empty glass of water and 5 scripts. These physical objects form a working archive of 8 improvised performances completed across a 3 months residency at LungA School in Iceland. The stack of objects create a set of notations for future performances. These scripts and objects were re-activated during a solo performance for the live program of ‘Exiting a Hole…’.
The logic of the list is internal - defined by its constituents. There is something binding these constituents together (a memory, journey, recipe, desire). This binding agent goes unnamed, operating under/over the surface. In this way the list is a map of the subconscious - the non-present, invisible field which draws its parts together. There is never a whole - or else, the whole exists outside of the list’s world. In this way ‘list=want’ refers to the desiring field produced by this mapping. It captures the embedded absence inherent in a list’s architecture.
