Joshua Di Mattina-Beven (b. 2002, Wellington) is an emerging artist and creative producer currently working on unceded Gadigal land.
Cruising both public space and personal memory, Joshua’s practice takes a relational approach to performance making with and for others. Working across choreography, moving image, sculpture and text, the material/poetic conditions of bodily presence has become a key artistic focus. Their practice attempts to animate the inanimate, allowing publics to gather around the ephemeral intimacies of both event and aftermath. Playful in approach, Joshua’s collaborative methodologies emphasise embodied practice and process driven outcomes.
Joshua graduated from UNSW Art and Design in 2024 with a double degree in Fine Arts/Arts (Sculpture/Performance Studies), winning the Ross Steele Fine Art Prize for their ensemble work ‘Tussle’. They recently completed a residency at Readymade Works, and have upcoming performances at Gosford Regional Art Gallery and Pari Gallery.
